London, July 14: A 140-run partnership between Rahul Dravid and Robert Key enabled Kent to pile up 257 for eight in reply to Derbyshire’s first innings score of 181 on the second day of their four-day tie here yesterday. Key (83) and Dravid (55) were ably supported by MV Fleming who scored a sedate 47.
Dravid reached his fifth championship fifty and looked set for a big score but was caught behind down the leg side trying to glance Cork.
In another match, India’s ace spinner Anil Kumble bagged 4 for 32 to restrict Durham to 171 in reply to Leicestershire’s first innings score of 222. In the second knock Leicestershire were 98 for 3 wickets.
Kumble and James Ormond, who shared eight wickets in 100 minutes between lunch and tea, gave Leicestershire a strong if not unbreakable grip on the match at Grace Road yesterday.
