MUMBAI, MAY 8: There were three upsets in the five finals of the State Ranking Tennis tournament at the Andheri YMCA courts here today.

In the under-18 boys’ section fifth seed Gavryl Fernandes, who had won the under-16 title too, defeated second Arpan Lakhani 6-4 6-2 while in the under-10 final, third seed Agnel Gladwin won 6-1 6-0 against Ankesh Bharghava.

The big upset in the girls section was the defeat of second seed Sagarika Phadke 7-5 6-3 6-3 by sixth seed Nalini Malaya.

Siddharth Chheda won the boys under-12 title beating Rohan Gide 6-2 6-1 while Roshni Luthra won 6-1 6-1 against unseeded Ayushi Sinha in the girls under-10 final.

Christopher dazzles

Christopher Marquis, the youngest player of the tournament, scored an impressive 7-0 victory over Sriram Iyer in the boys under-10 qualifying round of the Maharashtra State Ranking Junior tennis tournament, sponsored By Sansui & Sony Mony, at the Bhushan Tennis Academy.

Bagul slams century
