
November 21: Sharad Divecha, playing to a handicap of 11, brought distinction to the Willingdon Sports Club course here today with the best card of 71 on the first day of the ANZ Investment Bank Invitational golf championship.
Divecha came home with a score of 42 points, 22 on the way out, in this stableford competition. Divecha finished with four gross birdies two on the outward trip and seven gross three on the way back for a gross score of 31.
Before Divecha gave in his card, Australian Colin Rudd 24 was the best with a score of 35 stableford points. Surjit Singh Dugal 14 also had a 35. But Rudd was ahead because of a better back nine score.
Seventeen-year-old Rohit Goyal 5 started out promisingly, shooting two gross birdies and three gross pars on the front nine, but faltered on the way back, securing just four pars, for a gross card of 26.
Behram Ganadia of WSC came with the second best score of 39 points. He has nine gross pars.
Easy for OLR
Our Lady of Remedy Poisur scored a 4-0 victory over St Mary8217;s Dahisar in the under-17 Bro Paulus Memorial Inter-School football tournament at the Vidya Vikasini High School ground, Vasai today.
Sibin Paul 2, Manish Shelar and Gaurang Mandiya were the goal-getters.
