CHANDIGARH, Dec 3: Despite protest from city cricket faternity to hold star nite at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, the Chandigarh Administration paid little heed to the sentiments of the sportspersons, and has given green signal to the organisers. Today at the stadium, one could see pot holes all over the field and stage being erected for the mega event, which would spoil the outfield and there is also a possibility that the wicket may also be damaged. The organisers also objected to taking photographs of the field. A news photographer was manhandled by the organisers.

Meanwhile, former Indian opener Navjot Singh Sidhu has also pledged his support to the tirade against the Administration’s move to have a star nite at the stadium, "knowing well that cricket will suffer due to this". Sidhu said he was in favour of sports grounds being used "only for sports and not other masala events".
