Derailment hits traffic

PUNE, Jan 5: Rail traffic on the Pune-Mumbai section of the Central Railways was severely affected for over six hours following derailment of three wagons of a goods train near Lonavla station this afternoon.

The derailment occurred at 3.35 pm on the down line to Pune. The wagons were empty when they jumped the tracks.

Rail authorities had rushed to the site of the derailment and initiated the repair works. Restoration of the rail traffic was in progress till late in the evening. The police ruled out any possibility of sabotage.
