
1 drowned while immersing ashes
A 28-year-old man, Kishan, was drowned on Sunday afternoon in the Yamuna river near Geeta colony area. Kishan had gone to perform the last rites for the body of his son at the crematorium in the area. After the cremation, he went to the banks of the river to immerse the ashes when he himself was washed away by the current.
15, 400 pirated audio cassettes recovered
Ten parcels containing 15, 400 pirated audio cassettes have been recovered from the Sarai Rohilla Railway Station. The Crime Branch had received information that the consignment had been booked at the station to be delivered to Bahar Electronics in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The police had the package detained for a search. A search of the 10 parcels led to the recovery of the audio cassettes of various titles including Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Achanak, Karib, Junoon, Dil to Pagal Hai and Raja Hindustani. The police say that the consignment had been booked by Kamal Kant of Lajpat Rai market.
A case under the Copyright Act has been registered at the main railway police station and efforts are being made to trace the consignor.
Car robbed at gunpoint
A property dealer was robbed of his car in Rohini at gun point on Saturday evening. The police are looking for a group of three persons in connection with the case.
The victim, Joginder Pal, a resident of Paschim Vihar, has a business in Sector 16. He had closed down for the day at around 7 p.m. and was heading for Bahadurgarh.
He was passing through Sector 25 in his Maruti Van DL8CB 3900 when he slowed down as there was construction work going on in the road ahead. He was overtaken by three persons in a Maruti Zen.
Two of the persons got out and approached him. One of them took out a gun and ordered him out of the car. They then sat in his car and drove away with the Zen following them. A case of robbery has been registered at the Samaipur Badli police station.
Man arrested, 22 auto theft cases solved
The Shakarpur police have arrested one Mohammad Nadeem, aged 22, of Chandni Mahal for stealing a scooter in Lalita Park on May 31. With his arrest 22 cases of auto theft have been worked out. Spare parts of 10 scooters, including chassis and engines, were also recovered from his residence. A search is being conducted for his associate Siraj of Shastri Park.
Two youths snatch purse
Two unidentified scooter-borne youths reportedly snatched a purse containing Rs 6,000 from a woman, aged 25, of Dilshad Garden while she was going on a rickshaw near SDM Hospital. After robbing her, the same youths reportedly snatched a purse from another woman 8212; Asha, aged 30, of Dilshad Garden 8212; containing Rs 13,000, in front of GTB hospital gate. The Seemapuri police have registered a case of snatching and launched a hunt to locate the culprits.
