Express lensman wins award
Naveen Jora, photographer, The Indian Express, was conferred the 22nd Matra Shri Award for Excellence In Photography. The award was given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Lal Khurana at FIIC auditorium on Sunday.

Fusion music
A performance of fusion music by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia with India8217;s leading lights in Hindustani classic music like Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Kishori Amonkar, Ustad Allah Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain will be held at Siri Fort Auditorium on Monday. The combination features classical, folk and jazz.

New timings for Bangalore Rajdhani
The timings of the bi-weekly Bangalore-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express have been revised from April 27 from both Delhi and Bangalore. The Bangalore-Nizammudin Rajdhani Express will leave Bangalore at 1835 hrs on Mondays and Wednesdays and arrive at Nizammudin at 0653 hrs on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Hazrat Nizamuddin-Bangalore Rajdhani Express will leave Nizammudin at 2050 hrs on Mondays and Saturdays and arrive at Bangalore at 0505 hrs on Wednesdays and Mondays.

Teachers protest
Members of the Government School Teachers8217; Association GASTA sat on a dharna outside the office of the Director of Education in protest against the non-payment of salaries for the month of March to the employees of aided schools. C P S Chauhan, president GASTA said that it is mandatory on the part of the government of NCT of Delhi to disburse the salaries by the first week of every month. He added that they had decided to gherao the commissioner-cum-principal secretary on April 27.

Parents8217; dharna to decry fee hike
Parents of students of public schools sat on a dharna under the leadership of MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri at Chief Minister Sahib Singh8217;s residence on Sunday. They were protesting the increase in school fee by public schools, in violation of the High Court order.

Clean environment
Flagging off a rally organised by the Indian Institute of Materials IMM on the occasion of the launching of a programme on Green Purchasing8217;, Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma emphasised the need of spreading awareness about the need for a clean environment. M M Bhardawaj, chairman, IMM, stressed on the use of reyclable, biodegradable, multiusable and energy-saving equipment. V.K. Jain, senior vice-president, IIM said that eco-friendly products should be purchased which cause the least damage to environment during designing, manufacturing, usage, transportation and disposal.

Blood donation camps
The Sant Nirankari Mission organised 32 blood donation camps in various parts of the country on Sunday. The camp was organised in coordination with the India Red Cross Society.

Career mela at YMCA
A career Mela will be organised at the YMCA hostel between April 28 and April 30. Free counselling and literature regarding various job-oriented courses will be made available. The mela will also focus on courses which eventually lead to self-employment. Also participating in the fair will be leading institutes like NIFT, National Open School, Footwear Design and Development Institute, among others.

AIIMS staff to protest
The unions of the 6,000-strong non-faculty staff of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS have joined forces to protest against, what they call, the institute administration8217;s discriminatory attitude towards them. The non-faculty staff comprises scientists, officers, nurses, technicians and resident doctors.

Internet link for NSC
The National Seeds Corporation limited NSC went on the Net on Friday. The Internet facility was switched on by Director General ICAR R S Paroda at the NSC8217;s head office. Paroda later said that the facility will help the NSC keep abreast with latest developments in seed research.

School quiz contest
Kirtan Prachar Academy organised a Gurmat Quiz Contest8217; at the Guru Harkrishan Public School, Gujranwala Town. Eighty seven students from different schools in the city participated in the competition.

Park inaugurated
A park was inaugurated by MLA Jai Kishan at the Sultanpuri resettlement colony on Sunday. The MCD park has been named after Dr B R Ambedkar and has been built at a cost of Rs 16 lakh.
