GWALIOR, DECEMBER 26: A criminal case has been registered against 200 Bharatiya Janata Party workers, including Member of Parliament Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, for allegedly raising slogans despite closing of electioneering yesterday for Sunday8217;s civic polls at Gwalior.

Police have said that the workers started raising slogans while Pawaiya along with the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates for the post of corporators was personally meeting members of the public at Maharaja Bada Kotwali police station area of the city on Saturday afternoon.

A criminal case has been filed against the party workers and Pawaiyya under Section 188 for attempting to influence the voters twenty-four hours after closure of the prescribed time of campaigning, the police sources added.

Meanwhile, in a statement here, Member of Parliament Pawaiya said making public contact was his right. 8220;Being a member of the parliament, I know how to act in accordance with the law8221;, he added.
