Dead body recovered
The Katargam police recovered the dead body of an unidentified person aged between 25 and 30 hanging from a tree on the outskirts of the city on Sunday afternoon. Naran Sajan Ahir, a resident of Umeshnagar in Sayan, informed the police around 2 pm that he had seen the corpse hanging from a bawal8217; tree. The police reached the spot and recovered the body, which was hanging by a lungi8217;. Although a case under section 174 of the CrPC has been registered, the police have sent the body to the New Civil Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the cause and time of death.

Car stolen
A Maruti 800 car GJ 5 A 9217 belonging to one Jagdish Dandjani has been reported stolen from opposite Sargam Shopping Centre at Parle Point. Dandjani told the police in a complaint today that he had parked his vehicle opposite the shopping complex on Saturday night, from where it was stolen. Body surfaces
An unidentified middle-aged person was found dead from a canal by the Surat-Bardoli Road on Saturday night by the Bardoli police of the district. Post-mortem reports made available to the police said the person might have died of drowning about one day ago at some other place and his body might have surfaced within the Bardoli police station limits.

PHC burgled
A primary health centre located at Chitpur village in Uchhal taluka of the district was broken into by unidentified persons during the night hours, a case registered in the Uchhal police said. Ashokkumar Ramlal, the PHC8217;s medical officer, informed the police that a Sriram Honda genset, two ceiling fans, four chairs, a table and cushions valued at Rs 22,200 were taken away after thieves broke the doorlock. A case has been registered at the Uchhal police station.
