Woman ends life
One Chandkumari Sitaram, a 22-year-old woman residing at 302, Ashapuri Society at Bamroli Road in Pandesara committed suicide on Wednesday after she had an argument with her husband, a case registered in the Pandesara police station said. According to the police, Chandrakumari had an argument with her husband after he declined to let her go to her parents8217; house. She then hanged herself to the ceiling during the early hours of Thursday and ended her life, the police added. The police have registered a case under CrPC 174 and are investigating.

Suicide
A 24-year-old woman committed suicide on Wednesday night by setting herself on fire as she was being physically and mentally tortured by her husband and his family members, a case registered in the Varachha police station said. The deceased8217;s mother, Diwaliben Chudasama, lodged a complaint in the police station and named the husband and his mother as the accused. A case under IPC 498 a, 306 and 114 has been registered and is being investigated.

Theft
A textile shop owner of the city, in a complaint lodged in the Salabatpura police station on Wednesday night, said that one Sahebrao Popat, a resident of Mahad in Maharashtra, had stolen Rs 65,000 in cash from his shop on Tuesday and was absconding. Mahendra Chhaganbhai Tailor complained to the police that Popat, who was employed in the shop, had stolen the money from the safe.

Arrested
One Rajendra Phulchand Gupta, a resident of Lavligaam was caught and handed over to the police on Thursday, after he allegedly tried to cheat a cloth merchant of Rs 50,000. Naresh Chandwani, the owner of shop, told the police that Gupta, cheated him by giving him a cheque which bounced, after buying sarees. Gupta was later taken into custody and charged with sections 406, 420, 462, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC. Efforts are now on to retrieve the sarees, most of which he sold, the police added.
