New-born abandonedA new-born baby girl was abandoned by an unidentified woman in the Udhna area of the city during the early hours of Thursday. The Udhna police, who have registered a case under sections of the IPC, said the girl was found on road no 6, Udhna. The infant has been taken to the New Civil Hospital, where its condition is said to be stable.SuicideKanu Nagin Patel, a middle-aged mentally unstable man residing at Bartad village of Mahuva taluka committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Thursday morning. The Mahuva police said that Kanu had attempted suicide on at least three occasions in the past. His wife had gone to her house for the festive season when he committed suicide, the police added. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered.Man drownedAbdul Razzak Pathan alias Roti Pathan, a resident of Paniyari Kheti Vikas Compound, Vyara, drowned in a canal off Paniyari on Wednesday, the Vyara police said. Pathan informed his wife that he was going for a wash in the canal, but slipped and drowned instead. His wife Magdu Pathan later lodged a complaint in the Vyara police station.Man kills selfA 60-year-old resident of Baleshwar town of Palsana taluka died within hours of consuming acid on Wednesday evening, a case registered in the Palsana police station said. Nagin Ranchhod Modi consumed acid in his house and was rushed to the clinic of Dr Manhar Patel, where he died. The reason for the extreme step has not been ascertained yet.Chain stolenVadodara: Two unknown motorcyclists snatched a gold chain worth Rs 6,000 from Faridaben Abbas Belsara in Shitalnagar Society on Wednesday night. Police said the miscreants, aged around 28, approached the woman and forcibly pulled the chain off her neck and escaped.
