Man smashed to death
During the early hours of Tuesday, a resident of Vijaynagar-II of Katargam, was bludgeoned to death by unidentified persons. A case has been registered in the Varachha police station. According to the police, Shyamlal Mohanlal Rana 35 died when his head was smashed in by cement pipes and huge boulders. The bloodstained weapons were found near Rana8217;s body at the railway overbridge-Patelnagar slum road. Police said that the skull had broken open and the face smashed to a pulp. The victim8217;s brother, Dungar Mohanlal Rana, has not named any suspects in his complaint. No headway has been made in the case.

Body found
The Mahuva police has found the dead body of an unidentified 20-year-old woman from a sugarcane field, along the Mahuva Anaval Road, on Tuesday morning. The young woman is believed to have been murdered by unidentified persons, as sharp-edged weapon wounds were found on her neck. The police opined that the woman might have been murdered on Sunday night and thrown into the field. The body has been sent to the New Civil Hospital for a post-mortem.

Wife harassed
A newly-wed woman approached the police on Tuesday afternoon, and lodged a complaint against her husband and mother-in-law, accusing them of physical and mental harassment for dowry. The two have been booked by the Katargam police under sections 498a, 504 and 5062 of the IPC as well as sections 4 and 5 of the Dowry Act. No arrests had been made until Tuesday evening although investigations have begun.

Woman killed
Vadodara: A woman was killed in Sarwata mohalla of Nasvadi town on Monday after being branded a dakan. According to the Vadodara district rural police control room, accused Mahaliabhai Kanjibhai Bhil approached Jangliben Tatiabbhai Bhil saying, 8220;You are a dakan, you devour everybody8221; and hit her on her mouth and stomach killing her instantaneously. The accused has been arrested.
