
Burns death
25-year-old Sharda Patel, a resident of Junagaam village on the outskirts of Surat city, died from severe burn injuries, while being admitted into the Ashaktashram hospital on Saturday evening. The Ichhapore police said that Sharda Patel was cooking in her house at around 6:30 pm on Saturday when the stove exploded, causing her to catch fire. She was rushed to the Ashaktashra hospital, where doctors attending on her declared her dead on admission. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered.
Nabbed
The city police, as part of its combing operations against criminals, took into custody four persons for offences committed in the recent past. The Varachha police arrested Rajesh Rajgor (20), Raju Jadhav (20) and Mohammed Hussain Diwan (19), all residents of the city for their involvement in an armed robbery on November 4, 1998 opposite Vaishali Talkies. The Chowk Bazaar police also arrested one Dilip Ukhaji (25) for his links with a vehicle theft last year. All those arrested will be produced before a magistrate.
Vehicle thefts
Two vehicles, a Hero Honda motorcycle and a Luna were reported stolen in separate cases registered in the Chowk Bazaar police station during the past 24 hours. Manoj Patel, the owner of a Hero Honda motorcycle with chassis number 97J19F0130357 told the Chowk Bazaar police that his vehicle was stolen from the Choki Sheri area of Sayyedpura. In another case registered at the police station, a Luna (GQR 8301) was reported stolen. Mohammed Memon told the police that the vehicle was parked at Tunki Mohalla, from where it disapeared. Cases under IPC 379 have been registered.
