
Burns death
One Raziya Yusuf, a 15-year-old resident of Sahapura in Limbayat sustained severe burn injuries and died before she could be given medical treatment on Monday afternoon, the Limbayat police said. According to the police, Raziya was making tea at around 1 pm on a kerosene stove when it exploded. A case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered.
Arrested
Continuing raids on hideouts of anti-social elements and criminals, the city police on Monday arrested people involved in a number of crimes including thefts, breach of trust and trespassing. A release issued by the city police on Monday evening said that Ramnath Jat had been arrested on charges of breach of trust, Ramsharan Giri on charges of theft and Raji Unni Christian along with Unny Nair on charges of trespassing. The arrests were made by the Ichhapore and Chowk Bazaar police.
Burglaries
The Rander and Mahidharpura police have registered four cases of house-breaking and thefts after separate complaints were lodged in the police stations in the past 24 hours. In a case registered in the Rander police station, cash of Rs 25,000 along with gold and silver ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 1.11 lakhs were stolen during the night hours from a bungalow in Rander area. Bharat Zaveri told the police that miscreants broke into his house at Sneha Smruti Society by breaking the grill. Ayub Patel, a resident of Kayur apartments in the area told the Rander police that unidentified persons broke the lock of his house and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 59,000 kept in the cupboard.
In another case registered at the Mahidharpura police station, gold ornaments worth over 30,000 were stolen during the night hours. A complaint was lodged in the police station by one Devang Kumar. In the last case, also registered at the Rander police station, Rs 5000 worth of valuables were stolen, the police said. Jayesh Shah, the owner of the burgled house at Laljinagar in Rander area lodged a complaint in the police station on Monday morning.
