Cyclist arrested for manhandling
A cyclist was arrested by the city police today morning for allegedly manhandling a lady Homeguard volunteer in Sector 26 transport area. According to sources, the accused, Mahinder Parshad, had abused and manhandled the constable after she asked him to use the slip lane instead of the main road. He has been booked under Section 332, 353, besides 509 of the Indian Penal Code.

Liquor seized: case registered
The police have reportedly recovered 12 bottles of whiskey from one Krishan Kumar of Sector 19. According to the sources, a case under Section 61 1 14 of the Excise Act has been registered and investigations are on.

Cop injured
A Chandigarh Police constable was injured after a truck rammed into his motor cycle near the Indo-Tibetan Border Police camp. According to the sources, constable Paramjit Singh has been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. A case has been registered.

Head master booked
The head master of a government high secondary school in Ropar district has been booked by the City police under Section 34 5 61 of the Police Act. According to sources, the accused Malkiat Singh was later granted bail by a City Civil Judge (Senior Division).

Air Force jawan falls, dies
Ram Yadav (22), an Air Force jawan, fell off the stairs today during his training course at High Grounds and later, he died at Command Hospital.
