BJP working president Nitin Nabin
All eyes are on BJP national working president Nitin Nabin over which of the two southern states — Tamil Nadu or Kerala — he will visit first. Since his elevation, Nabin has already visited poll-bound Puducherry and Assam and chaired organisational meetings there. Party insiders are now waiting to see which state (between Tamil Nadu and Kerala) Nabin, who is likely to succeed J P Nadda as national president, visits first as both are scheduled to go to polls early next year, along with West Bengal, Puducherry and Assam.
Plan Diversion
As the Congress Working Committee met on Saturday, the day didn’t go as planned after Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh’s praise for the BJP-RSS and his remarks on the need for “decentralisation” of power within the Congress became the talking point. Two senior leaders in the party’s communication team were heard discussing how to tackle the situation. In whispers, they told each other that an “intelligent diversion” has to be created to bring back the attention to MGNREGA. While no “intelligent diversion” could be created as such, the party decided that its top leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, will not take questions from reporters during press briefing.
Digital Stride
The Central Public Works Department rolled out its “online transfer policy” for Group B employees last month with an aim to make the process more efficient and transparent, but the initiative hasn’t been seamless. It is learnt the some medical documents submitted on the portal by the employees appear to be doubtful, prompting the department to last week launch a verification of uploaded papers. Sources said those found to have submitted forged documents are likely to face action.
