Two arrested for gambling
In raids conducted last night the City police arrested two persons — Ramesh Kumar, a resident of the Grain Market in Sector 26, from near his house and Kapil Dev of Sector 30 from Manimajra — on the charges of gambling. Separate cases have been registered in two different police stations.

Ornaments stolen
Gurdil Singh, a resident of Sector 23, complained to the police that gold ornaments and a bank pass book were stolen from his house by a resident of the same Sector identified as Jagga. A case has been registered.

2 arrested for theft
City police have arrested two persons on theft charges and claim to have recovered 12 iron plates stolen by the two in June this year. Amarjit Singh Chauhan of the Madrasi Colony in Sector 26 and Rajinder Mian alias Lambu were arrested this evening when the two were allegedly on their way to Nayagaon village to sell the plates, police sources said. A case pertaining to the theft was registered in the Sector 36 on June 15, it was added.

Body found in Sector 34
The body of an unidentified man, believed to be about 40 years old, was found near the Labour chowk in sector 34 today. Police sources said that the deceased was apparently suffering from an illness. The body has been sent for post mortem.

4 hurt in mishaps
A novice driving a Maruti van in the Sector 40 market reportedly caused three accidents within a span of 15 minutes tonight. Charanjit Kaur and her son Prabhjot Singh, both residents of Sector 40, who were on a scooter and cyclists Ishwar Singh of Maloya and Ishwar Singh of Palsora have been admitted to PGI.
