MUMBAI, March 18: The long pending revamp of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee MPCC finally happened but it is more a cosmetic change than a total revamp as Congressmen had expected. The four vice-presidents 8212; Murli Deora, Gurudas Kamat, Ulhas Pawar and Suryakanta Patil 8212; under PCC president Prataprao Bhosle continue in their positions.

The major change is that 10 new vice-presidents have been added, six of them women. Also, the nine existing general secretaries will continue in their posts; but 10 new general secretaries have been added. Vandana Chavan, ex-mayor of Pune, is among them.

The PCC in its earlier avatar had 13 joint secretaries. All 13 have been retained but they will now hold the posts of secretaries. The revamp was also undertaken to induct as many as women as possible in the organisational affairs of the party. The 51-member executive committee had only one woman member so far but now after the revamp, it will have 21 women members.
