
AHMEDNAGAR, Aug 27: Additional superintendent of police Anup Kumar has said police personnel will try to bring about reconciliation among members of families and cases of harassment of married women will be registered only when reconciliation is not possible.
He was addressing the social security committee meeting, which reviewed the cases of harassment registered in the past seven months. The district police registered 67 cases of harassment to married women in the period. Of these, reconciliation was possible in 12 cases and compromise arrived at in nine.
While eight cases were registered, investigation was being conducted in 13. The breakup of harassment and dowry victimisation cases registered was: Ahmednagar city division 38, Ahmednagar rural division 70, Shrirampur 102 and Sangamner 74.
