MUMBAI, March 3: Even as the police arrested another accused in the pre-poll serial blasts on February 27 in Mumbai, officials believe that the suspected ISI agent who masterminded the blasts has undergone plastic surgery to conceal his identity.
Deputy police commissioner (Detection) K L Prasad told Express Newsline that the agent has been shifting his hideout from one place to other and might adopt unconventional methods to give the police the slip. "We are not making his sketch public as it might hamper further investigation," he said.
Joint police commissioner (crime) R S Sharma added that special police squads have been sent to different parts of India including Uttar Pradesh to nab the agent, who is believed to be between 22 and 26 years of age. He had been staying in Santacruz for about eight months and had used various false names while meeting different criminals in a bid to form a group to carry out the blast, said police sources.
Another accused, Kadir M Sayyed (25), who had allegedlyvisited Kashmir for special training in disruptive activities, was also arrested on Tuesday, taking the total of the accused in custody to seven. Sayyed has been remanded to custody till March 12.
