
A police constable and five others were arrested on Friday for kidnapping a five-year-old boy in Bulandshahar district. The accused also included the maternal uncle of the victim.
Abhay Sharma 8212; a resident of Aligarh 8212; who was abducted on October 8, was rescued from a hideout at Gunnaur in Budaun district.
According to the police, Abhay used to stay at the home of his maternal uncle, Monu, in Khurja. Since Abhay belongs to an affluent family, Monu hatched a plan to kidnap him.
Circle Officer CO, Khurja, R K Singh said that Monu took the help of his friend Jai Prakash, a constable posted with the GRP outpost at Rajghat, to get a mobile phone and SIM card that was bought with fake documents. Monu helped other gang members, including a student of Jatiya Polytechnic College, to get the boy abducted from his house, the CO said. They demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh for the release of the victim.
The police, however, managed to trace the gang members after putting the mobile phone on surveillance and arrested Monu, Jai Prakash and four others, Singh said.
Two youths rob Rs 1.74 lakh from Amity College cashier
Two youths ran away with Rs 1.74 lakh from a cashier of Amity College on Friday. The police said that after withdrawing cash from a bank, Sushil Kumar Singh was on his way to the college when a tyre of his scooter got punctured. Singh was trying to repair the tyre when he suddenly felt severe itching around his neck. He walked to a nearby tea-stall to wash his neck and returned to find the bag containing the money missing from inside the scooter8217;s locker. He noticed that two youths had run away with his bag on a Pulsar motorcycle. Later, the police found the motorcycle8217;s number was fake.
