Accusing the Congress of being soft on terror, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi said today that the party has been performing “mujra” before the terrorists even as the attacks continue.

“In order to confront terrorists, you need a government that has the courage to take them on,” said Modi, alleging that the Congress’s “vote-bank politics” was responsible for the recent attacks. “It revoked POTA soon after coming to power, much to the disappointment of our countrymen and delight of Pakistan,” he said.

“Eint ka jawab pathar sey dena hoga. Terrorism can be uprooted provided the government has the will and courage to do so,” he added.

Addressing an election rally at Bishnah, about 20 km from here, Modi compared the Congress to a “125-year-old woman” who has become a burden on the country. “This old woman cannot change the fate of the youth, nor can it better the destiny of nation,” he said. Asking the people to give the BJP one chance of goverance in J&K, Modi said: “We assure you that we will change your fate as also the destiny of this troubled state,” adding the solution to the Kashmir problem lies in the empowerment of Jammu.
