AHMEDNAGAR, MARCH 12: Congress councillor of the Ahmednagar Municipal Council Asaram Kaware has been arrested for murdering a youth with a wooden stick in the Market Yard committee campus on Friday night.

Kaware, who is also director of Shahar Sahakari Bank was arrested at 3 am on Saturday by the Kotwali police. The police have registered an FIR against him under the Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint against the accused was lodged at the Kotwali Police Station by one Kagilalu Makbul Shaikh who was accompanying the deceased at the time of the murder.

The deceased, Yusuf Khan Kadar Khan Pathan (21) hailed from Koyankanthala village in Karnul district of Andhra Pradesh. He had come to Ahmednagar to get recruited in the Mechanical Infantry Regimental Centre along with 27 boys from the Shiva Sports Club in Koyankanthala village. Out of the 28 boys, 26 were selected for the physicals to be held on Saturday after the completion of their written and orals on Friday. The motive behind the murder is unknown and further investigations are on. The investigation is being conducted by police inspector Jeevan Singh Pardeshi.

Yusuf died due to serious head injury according to police sources.
