JALANDHAR, Nov 19: The Punjab Congress has yet again sought deployment of para military forces in the Adampur constituency alleging a large scale misuse of official machinery by the ruling Akali Dal and apprehending violence in at least 15 sensitive polling booths for the November 25 poll.

In a fax sent to the CEC , the Congress incharge of the campaign in Adampur constituency, Bir Devinder Singh alleged that the ruling party was distributing poppy husk, opium, liquor and money among people society in a bid to influence them.

It was alleged that the district administration had failed to check such brazen violation of moral values and ethics.

Identifying 15 very sensitive polling stations in the villages of the constituency, the Congress in its complaint said that booth capturing and hooliganism by the ruling Akalis was apprehended at these booths.

The Congress called for immediate and additional security arrangements at the sensitive booths.

The Congress has also called upon the CEC to act urgently before it was too late for any preventive measures and said the para military troops should intensively patrol the constituency on November 24 and the polling day on November 25.
