CALCUTTA, MARCH 13: A senior Congress member in the West Bengal Assembly Saugata Roy on Monday voiced concern over the statement of new RSS chief K Sudarshan calling for changing the Constitution and said that the House should adopt an all-party resolution to oppose it.

Making a mention in the floor of the house Roy said that his party had expressed its apprehension when the Vajpayee Government constituted a committee to review the Constitution. But the Government had assured them that the basic structure of the Constitution would not be changed.

The Congress legislator said that many people having RSS connections were now ministers in the Central Government. Even the Prime Minister, he said, was involved in RSS activities and added that no one was vocal against the attempt to change the Constitution.

He said that the Assembly should adopt an all-party resolution opposing any change in the basic structure of the Constitution.
