8220;The political party office bearers across the district would be given time till 10 tomorrow Thursday morning, there after the election office would not only remove the ads, but also slap cases against the parties,8221; chief returning officer and district collector Vijaykumar Gautam told The Indian Express.

The election office today filed a complaint with Cantonment Police against local Sena unit under the provisions of Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Properties Act, 1995, Gautam said.

Sena district chief Vijay Tadwalkar would be asked to instruct his partymen properly to remove all the boards, hoardings, advertisements, posters and cut outs, the district collector added.

The code of conduct requires all the parties to remove or permanently erase the political ads. The political workers, however, have just covered their boards and hoarding with paper or clothe pieces which is not sufficient, Gautam said. 8220;After the first day action in neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad, we have been able to remove about 85 per cent political ad boards,8221; Gautam said.
