He8217;s an ardent fan of music composer O.P. Nayyar. Ganesh Bagdare, along with three other fans including the oldest identified fan, M.V. Mohan Kumbojkar, Hemlata Vedant and Shridhar Khot decided to publish a filmography revolving around their favourite composer. Its chief editor will be Vishwas Nerurkar, who has already published biographies on Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosale, R.D. Burman and Naushad. To be titled Star Romantic Music Maestro of the Century, the fans are determined to publish it on the maestro8217;s 74th birthday on January 16. Says an enthused Bagdare, 8220;While we were conducting a photo session in Gautam Rajadhyaksha8217;s studio, cine star Anil Kapoor also had one at the same time. As soon as he saw Nayyarsaab, he came forward and took his blessings8221;.

A multi-faceted personality, Nayyar is also a practising homeopath, an astrologer and philosopher. The filmography will dwell on all this and print some of his rare photographs, some moments with his fans and articles by former film journalists. 8220;The book is bound to be popular, because 500 copies have already been booked,8221; concludes Bagdare happily.

Strokes at Sunrise
In their effort to make original art accessible to the common man and encourage artists, the Festival of Paintings series at Cafe Sunrise on Jangli Maharaj Road brings Raju Sutar and Vaishali Oak this time round. The works of these two artists, who thought up the concept of art for everyone,8217; will be on display till December 19.

8220;Currently I am exploring the possibilities opened up by the interaction of tribal and contemporary art,8221; says Sutar, currently on a fellowship from the ministry of culture. Oak has chosen a completely different medium of expression 8211; patchwork on quilt. 8220;I needed to probe avenues other than oil and ink and came up with this collage of cloth pieces,8221; she says.

Indus Creed
Pune-based artist Bharati Mate will display her works of art, Indus 8211; A Living Tradition8217;, at Art-Walk, the art gallery at the Oberoi Arcade of the Oberoi Hotels in Mumbai from November 23 to December 6. The exhibition consists of a folk-art series of oil paintings on canvas. The paintings have been inspired by ancient Indian art, which goes back to antiquity. Mate, a creative director with an advertising agency, has sought to reflect 8220;the legacy of the Indus people, which is characterised by simplicity with dignity,8221; through her paintings.
