Young care
The young are not as uncaring and self-centred as they may sometimes seem when they get obsessed with their looks, their clothes and so on. But on July 24, members of the Express Youth Forum showed that they had more to them than just youth. These young people headed by Anjali Gunaga, Jyoti Ghugle, Amit Pingale and others organised an entertainment program for the members of the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre at Khadki. The dance program which had a fusion of Indian and Western dance enthralled the disabled soldiers and antakshari where the patients 68, at present of the home also participated. The event brought some cheer and helped forge a bond.

EYF also donated 125 books, magazines and novels that these men could read in their spare time otherwise, their workshop manufactures electronic parts. The programme ended on the musical notes of the EYF orchestra and a promise to make this new relationship a permanent one. The Kargil conflict has spawned a whole host of fund-raising events. Operation Vijay, an art exhibition organised by the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay and the Babu Genu Trust at the Balgandharva Kaladalan is one such event. On display are colourful abstracts, still life, portraits and landscape paintings.

Kargil on their mind
