Her first action was to call the nearby Government Veterinary Polyclinic. This was only the start of the runaround she was to be given.

The doctor in charge said he would not be able to attend to the bull and gave her the number of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals SPCA. Who told her that their van was too small and passed her on to one Ashok Shah. She ended up once again at the SPCA. And all the while, the bull suffered. The owner did finally claim it but by that time, sadly, the bull had died. A victim of indifference.

Critical eye
The creative act of painting can be a rewarding experience in itself. But like any creative activity, it thrives on critical appreciation. The 26 aspiring artists who form part of the SNDT8217;s master8217;s in fine arts course have organised an art exhibition of their work for this purpose.

The exhibition, to be held at the Bal Gandharva Kala Dalan, will feature around 70 paintings using water, oil and enamel as media. The students have explored various subjects like landscapes and still life. The four-day exhibition, which starts on April 8, will be inaugurated by Madhav Jog, managing director, Jog Engineering Ltd.

The hills are alive8230;
Come holidays and it8217;s time to head for the hills. If you sign up for the five-day camp with the Panchgani Adventure Institute PAI, then the hills come with the package. The PAI promises mature, experienced and responsible professionals to guide boys and girls age 10 onwards, normally 30 in number, in adventure activities in camps held around Panchgani.

These include, among other things, rock-climbing, mountaineering, rappelling, river-crossing, horse-riding, rescue methods, rifle-shooting, self-defence, jungle survival and first-aid. Equipment for these activities will be provided by the management. Bookings for the camps, which are held in May and December, must be done at least two weeks in advance.
