Friday night fever
Thank God it8217;s Friday! Is that what Jaws Events seems to be saying after the success of their last Friday Nite with Namrata Baruwa at 10 Downing Street? So to carry on with the trend they have organised a sequel, this time with Gladrags supermodel Pearl Misquita who8217;s going to troop down from Mumbai. Also known as the Jalwa girl, Pearl will be playing bartender at TDS on December 11. And all those dying to be at the event of the year 8211; the Asha Bhonsle Night on December 12 8211; may just as well try their luck at TDS as Misquita is going to give away some passes for the winners of the dice game. Plus there are other prizes for the best dressed woman from the boutique Babe8217; and one for the cool dude of the night from Kinley. So take out your Sunday best and hit the town this Friday night.

Early to pay
Is the Pune Telecom getting hi-tech or what? Not content with an STD/ISD booth sprouting at every nook and corner of the city or with added facilities like call forwarding and computerised billing, the department is even into computerised follow up of the bills! And how? If you are a tardy consumer who has defaulted on the bill payment, be prepared for an early morning reminder or should we say wake up? call around 7 a.m. The computerised message to shake you out of your slumber will politely inform you that the bill for that particular number is overdue and should be paid immediately. Thoughtfully enough, they do add that in case you have just recently despatched your payment, you could then simply ignore the message and go back to sleep?. To make the point absolutely clear the message in repeated in three languages 8211; Hindi, Marathi and English. So all those given to late nights and later waking up hours, here8217;s another incentive8217; from the telephone department to start paying your bills in time.

Jingle8217;s in the air
Christmas is here! Well almost8230; At least the season-inspired sales and exhibitions have already started. One such Christmas special has been organised by Zeenisha8217;s Talent Window on Saifee street. A merry Santa Claus is all set to meet the children at 5 p.m. on December 12 with gifts. Well, of course the gifts come at a cost, in this case Rs. 30 per present unless you would want to get your own gift along. And with the festive spirit in the air can the goodies be far behind? So there will also be a sale of decorative Christmas cakes, chocolates, besides gift items and stationery.

Musical combine
The evening of December 9, 1998 saw the campus of the S P College spring to life to the melodious notes of the sitar and the samvadini, two instruments that came together in a unique jugalbandi. Organised by SPIC MACAY, the participants were maestro Ustad Shahid Parvez and Pandit Manohar Chimote, and they created magic playing the Raag Madhuvanti, accompanied by Vikram Ghate on the tabla. Organised for the students of S P College, it was an effort that got its due share of applause.
