CHANDIGARH, July 30: Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation CITCO has chalked out an elaborate programme to be held in its units viz. Hotel Mountview, Hotel Shivalikview, Chandigarh Yatri Niwas and Chef Lakeview for the closing ceremony of celebration of the 50th year of independence.

Chairperson of the Corporation Meenakshi Datta Ghosh and MD Satish Chandra said that efforts have been made to make the hotels accessible to the common man by bringing down the costs and offering substantial discounts from August 1 to 15.

Under the bonanza scheme for public, buffet lunch in Hotel Shivalikview shall be available for just Rs 100 per head. CITCO hotels shall offer 10 per cent discount on food from August 1 to 31. On August 14 and 15, the discount shall be 20 per cent in all the restaurants of both the hotels. Mango Utsav in Hotel Shivalikview shall also be an attraction of the festival.

In Yatri Niwas, 10 per cent discount will be offered from August 1 to 13 and 20 per cent on August 14 and 15. It shall also organise a food festival from August 8 to 9. The menu will be specially designed for children and joy rides will be organised too.

Chef Lakeview at Sukhna Lake will offer discount up to 20 per cent on food, boating and amusement games. A food festival shall be organised at the venue on August 14 and 15.

CITCO has organised a complementary trip for people above 65 years of age with lunch and tea at Pinjore. For trainee teachers of the Administration, a local sight seeing trip will be organised on August 8 and 9. The deluxe coaches will start from Hotel Shivalikview at 9 a.m. and the facility shall be extended on first-come first-serve basis and lunch will be served at Chef Lakeview. The interested persons can get themselves registered with the CITCO Information Centre at Interstate Bus Terminal ISBT.

For the southern sectors, Hotel Shivalikview is organising a feast at the Community Centre in Sector 33 on August 14 and 15 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Chocolate boxes will be kept for guests staying in the hotel on August 15. CITCO has also sponsored gifts in the form of dinner coupons for the winner of the quiz competition being organised by the UT Education Department. The hotel buildings shall be illuminated on August 15 as part of the celebrations.
