SINGAPORE, OCT 1: There were no medals for India on the opening day of the Asian Junior athletic championships, as China announced their domination of the biennial championships yesterday night.

Indian shot putter Saroj Sihad8217;s effort, a fourth place in women8217;s shot put was the best showing from India. In other events, India8217;s N Gojen was sixth in 5,000m, after looking a medal contender till the final lap.

Results

Men: 5000m: Hongru Sun China 14:46.84, Makih Al Khattabi Saudi, Abdul Aziz Qatar, 6 Gojen Singh.

Women: 5000m: Yong Ok Jong N Korea 16:55.28, Myong Sil Ri N Korea, Kayoko Fukushi Jap. Shot put: Mei Ju Li China 16.45m, Mei Hong China, Chinatsu Mori Japan, 4 Saroj Sihad Ind 13.89m. 100m hurdles: Takao Baba Japan 14.07s, Li Liu China 14.07s, Yueh Chin Lin Taiwan. Javelin: Bei Bei Du China 55.30m, Lin Liu China, Chia Yu Chen Taiwan.
