Fondue Surprise

At the West View Bar & Grill in ITC Sonar, Kolkatans will get the opportunity of sampling a Swiss dish shared at the table in an earthenware pot (caquelon) over a small burner (rechaud). Bread, seafood, chunks of meat, vegetables can be dunked into the most exotic melted cheese or sauces and be devoured with the aid of a wooden stick. “The sinful chocolate fondue makes for the most exciting finish to an incredible meal,” promises Arundhati Ghosh, assistant manager-PR & Communication, ITC Sonar.

The famed chocolate brownies at Nahoums may be a hit all through the year, but its winter that brings out the best in them. Rich plum cakes and creamy tarts taste even better as the winter settles in. Regulars will know that the best plum cakes are rolled out in the early days of winter.

Reinvention Route

The primarily continental menu of the City Centre eatery, Afraa, gets a desi makeover as the cold weather blows in. Warming curries and homemade pastas are replacing grilled foods at the tables of this restaurant. Patrons can start their meal with Porcini mushroom cappuccino, a warm, layered soup. The wholesome artichoke salad makes for the perfect accompaniment, while the baked gulab jamun cheesecake will be a sweet finish to your meal. “I would also recommend the garlic, rock lobster with bamboo shoot. It should be a big hit with sea-food lovers,” says chef Sumanta Chakraborty.
