CHENNAI, June 1: The city experienced a measure of relief from the searing heat of the past fortnight today. Temperatures at the Nungambakkam Meteorological Centre registered a fall of about four degrees C. From the 42.4 degrees C recorded on May 31, the figure came down to 38 degrees C. At Meenambakkam, temperatures continued to be in the region of 40 degrees. The Met Office has said that temperatures are likely to drop, with the onset of the South-West monsoon over neighbouring Kerala.
