
Sonia quits as Congress president
Sonia Gandhi today tendered her resignation as Congress president to the party8217;s Working Committee, which was, however, turned down by the CWC.She left the meeting of the CWC after submitting the resignation letter. Sonia told the meeting that if they did not have faith in her leadership she was tendering her resignation.The CWC meeting has been convened to discuss the letter written by Sharad Pawar, P. A. Sangma and Tariq Anwar seeking constitutional amendments to ensure that citizens born in India alone should be qualified to hold the posts of the president, vice-president and prime minister.
Sharad Pawar sets out for long, hard battle
