Chambers welcome State policy

Employers’ Federation of India vice president Ram Tarneja said the state government should shed its obsession with employment protection and neglect of employment creation. It should strive to promote tourism and new technology related industries besides laying stress on creating basic infrastructure such as sea ports, airports and highways.

Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice president HR Khurokhan shared Tarneja’s views and called upon the government to take special measures to promote tourism and infrastructure. The government should set up a world class convention centre and ensure that Mumbai retains its primacy in the economic life of the country, he said.

Camlin president Subhash Dandekar said that India should prepare itself to get the best advantage of globalisation instead of dragging feet. he added that labour law reforms would not only provide greater flexibility to industry managements and also greater opportunity, mobility and growth to all segments to labour in organised and unorganised sectors.
