NEW DELHI, MARCH 14: Faced with widespread protests by students and parents over the discrepancies in checking the examination sheets in the past few years, the Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE has taken certain quot;fool-proofquot; measures to improve and overhaul the evaluation system.
The first and foremost step taken is that the format of the answer book has been revised with two vertical columns for writing the marks obtained instead of the existing four columns, sources here said.
A separate sheet has been provided for writing marks by the examiner instead of writing marks on the title cover of the text book. Thereafter, this sheet is to be handed over to the head examiner by the examiner for safe custody.
The first coordinator may now post the marks on the title cover of the answer book and calculate grand total and write the same in the title cover as well as after the last question attempted by the candidate at the end of the answer book.
The second coordinator will now obtain the sheetfrom the head examiner on which the latter has posted the marks and collate these with those posted on the answer book and thereafter prepare the award list after proper verification.
The sources said the rates for evaluating the answer scripts have also been revised to ensure that those checking the sheets take due interest in their work. They said the CBSE is also keen to see that the checks and balances provided at various stages in the evaluation system are applied properly.
