PUNE, FEBRUARY 23: A 23-year-old cable network operator from Khadki Bazar area was arrested by the Khadki police on Monday on charges of attacking a teenaged girl.

Police said Alister Arool Anthony stabbed on the hands of the girl after she turned down his marriage proposal. The incident, which had taken place three months ago, came to light only after the girl lodged a First Information Report FIR at Khadki police station on Monday afternoon.

Police said Alister had abducted the victim, a Standard IX student of a school in Khadki, from Khadki Bazar area while she was going to attendschool.

The girl alleged in the FIR that she was forcibly taken to the residence of a friend of Alister. Alister allegedly threatened to kill the girl and took her photographs in objectionable poses before proposing to marry her. He stabbed the girl with a knife when she turned down his proposal, police said.

Joyride lands thief in police net

A collegian who lifted a two-wheeler for a joyride on Monday evening was caught after he met with a mishap while riding the stolen vehicle in Khadki area.

Police said Ketan Baban Kale 18 of Range Hills, who studies in standard XI at a junior college in Khadki, allegedly lifted one A H Gupta8217;s motorbike after breaking its handle lock and went for a joyride on the Mumbai-Pune Highway on Monday evening. However, a few moments later he lost his control and fell down.

Policemen Bharat Temkar and Waman Katkar, who were patrolling on the highway at time, went to help him after the mishap. However, Kale allegedly started running away on noticing that the policemen in uniforms were approaching.

The two policemen nabbed him with the help of a couple of passersby after a brief chase and took him to the Khadki police station for questioning. Later, Kale admitted that he had stolen the motorbike, police said.
