Stone-pelting: 1 hurt in the eye

MUMBAI, December 22: One person was injured in a stone-pelting incident on Monday evening. Sunil Prabhakar Sawant 21, a Lalbaugh resident, was hit by a stone between Jogeshwari and Andheri at 6.15 pm on Monday. He was injured below his right eye. He lodged a complaint with the Bandra railway police today.

Hearing on Hazare8217;s plea n A sessions court will on Wednesday hear an appeal filed by social activist Anna Hazare against the order of a metropolitan magistrate who convicted him in a defamation case by state Social Welfare Minister Babanrao Gholap. Hazare was convicted on the basis of his interview published by Navakal on September 22 last year in which he alleged that Anti-Corruption Bureau had in an inquiry found Gholap guilty of corruption.

3-yr-old8217;s body found in nullah

The body of a three-year-old boy was fished out today from a nullah at Samata Nagar, Kandivli. Police said the father, a resident of Namsi Wadi, had lodged amissing complaint about his son Chandan Mishra on December 19. Chandan8217;s body was fished out this morning by a sweeper. The body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem.

Mock hijack delays IA flight

A mock hijack at the Nagpur airport delayed the Nagpur-Mumbai Indian Airlines flight by about two hours on Monday night. The flight took off a little after 10.45 pm. Airport security, when contacted to confirm the earlier information that the Mumbai-bound plane was hijacked, was not in a position to confirm or deny it, with the constable on duty saying that all officers were on the tarmac and no information was available.

Adventure training camp

The Advantage Kids Camp has organised an adventure training camp at Dudhani, Silvassa, on the bank of the Daman Ganga river during the Christmas vacations. Participants will be taught boating, swimming, water-scooter riding skating, rappelling, river crossing, night trekking and survival training. The campwill be held between December 25 and 31.
