Brain behind TN blasts arrested

CHENNAI, March 30: The police made a major breakthrough with the arrest of Oomai Babu alias Mohammed Majid 27 at Calicut on Sunday night. Babu is said to have organised the serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore.

Sources said that an alert was issued by the Special Investigation Team of Crime Branch CID police following information that Babu had escaped to Kerala soon after the serial blasts in Coimbatore. Special teams were also sent by the SIT to Kerala to catch Babu.

The photos of Babu were circulated to all police stations in Kerala after the SIT received information that Babu might have gone there to meet his wife. It is learnt that Babu was arrested at a bus stand when he was attempting to escape to Assam after the SIT team flushed out all his hide-outs in Kerala.
