SURAT, Aug 9: In an early morning raid, the Pandesara police arrested a bootlegger, one Kedar Madhu Behra, and seized 1038 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 35,000 from his house in the Ganeshnagar slums, Limbayat. Two of his associates, who managed to escape, have been declared absconders.

ACP special branch M B Pethani said Dhansukh Irchu Patel, the driver of a Tempo Trax GJ 5 AB 8686, had also been arrested under sections of the Prohibition Act after he was found inebriated during combing operations early on Monday. Four other trucks were also arrested for reckless driving during the patrolling, Pethani stated, adding that Rs 2,200 had been recovered as fine from them.
