Asian Games medal hope high jumper Bobby Alloysius was left in the lurch as she landed at Busan on Friday night. No official from the Indian contingent was at the airport to receive the national champion. She made it to the Games Village only after some help from an official from Hong Kong.
Bobby, who was coming from Moscow to join the Indian contingent, had informed of her arrival to the Indian officials well in advance. According to her husband Shajan her flight from Moscow was late by two hours.
‘‘I had informed this to the Indian officials and they told me that they would take care of receiving Bobby,’’ he added Bobby, who checked into the village, was understood to be suffering from high fever for the past week during her training stint in Moscow.
Fever is not the only problem Bobby is facing. For the past several months she has been training indoor due to freezing conditions in Moscow. But in Busan, she will have to compete outdoor and in humid conditions. A complete climatic change will put a lot of strain on Bobby who was aiming gold at Busan.
