1. I run a nature club in my area. I am looking for some environmental products which I can gift my students on the eve of Christmas. Does BNHS have such products?
8212; Sushma Agarwal, Peddar Road
Congratulations for running a nature club. In fact more such clubs should come up. Apart from greetings and calendars, BNHS also has a range of educational products, such as puzzle books, games, jigsaw puzzles, stickers, badges, key chains, pencil, puppets and more. You can choose any of them, the prices are between Rs 10 to Rs 50 and are available at Hornbill house.
2. I want some information on dinosaurs. Will a dinosaur grow out of the egg that has been found?
8212; Pancham Kaur Sachdev, Sion Dinosaurs are the ancestors of the present group of reptiles. They ruled the earth for nearly 150 million years.
What has been found, is not a living egg but a fossilised egg of a dinosaur. No animal can grow out of it because it lacks the living tissues. In the coming issues of Bratline we are going to cover dinosaurs in detail. Hope the information interests you.
3. I refer to Bratline dated 30.10.97 where it8217;s said that the Palav Bunder is corrupted to Apollo Bunder by the British when local people have corrupted it. Moreover this has no connection with the Palav Tree.
8212; R B Gai, Mumbai
The information on Bhendi Tree or Palav Tree is as per the information published in the Book Trees of Bombay8217;. The authors have mentioned that the ample growth of Palav trees gave the name Palav which the English conveniently changed to Apollo Bunder. We will, nevertheless, pass on the information to the authors.
