A day after Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was granted bail in the blackbuck poaching case, investigations got a major boost today with three of the remaining six accused surrendering in Jhajjar.

While one of the accused, Shashi Singh, surrendered before Jhajjar police, two others, Mohammad Ayub Khan and Balwan Singh, surrendered in a local court. The three accused were remanded to a day in police custody.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Jhajjar Senior Superintendent of Police Haneef Qureshi said, ‘‘Mohammad Ayub Khan is a retired Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) from Haryana government. We are trying to establish his relationship with the other accused.’’

While Shashi Singh, managing director of Gurgaon-based AVL Software, is believed to be a close friend of Pataudi, Balwan Singh is a cousin of Madan Singh, who was the first to be arrested in the case. Madan Singh and Balwan Singh are residents of Aurangpur village.

Other accused who are still absconding are Dayal Singh, Shahid Ahmad and Giasuddin. While Dayal Singh and Shahid Ahmad are believed to be the servants of Pataudi, Giasuddin is believed to be Shashi Singh’s driver.

Cops close in on caller who threatened judge

Jhajjar police is learnt to be closing in on the anonymous caller who had called up Chief Judicial Magistrate Sudhir Jeewan’s residence and threatened his wife against him granting bail to Pataudi on June 20. ‘‘Investigations are on and it is premature to comment,’’ said Jhajjar SSP Haneef Qureshi.
