
PANCHKULA, Aug 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party BJP has decided to launch its election campaign in the district from tommorow. The decision was taken today at a party meeting held under the chairmanship of the Baldev Nayyar, who is the president of the local unit of the BJP.
The election campaign for the party candidate, Rattan Lal Kataria, will formally be launched tommorow evening from Abhaypur, and then successively from Rajiv Colony and Sector 7 by party vice-president Sanghpriya Gautam. Gautam will address public meetings at all these places.
Meanwhile the Mahila Morcha of the BJP also held a meeting which was held under the Chairmanship of Neelu Sachdeva who is the president of the local unit of Mahila Morcha. While addressing the meeting Sachdeva said that the Morcha workers will participate in the public meetings to be addressed by the National General Secretary of the party.
Atam Prakash Manchanda has been elected as the electon incharge for the Panchkula district. Three BJP-INLD party meetings were organised today at Kalka, Barwala and Raipur Rani. Those who were present in the meeting include District BJP president Bastram Tuli, and other senior party officials like Shyam Lal Bansal, Shyam Lal Sachdeva, Nardev Singh and Harbilas Jindal.
2 held for fraud
The Panchkula Police arrested two persons yesterday for committing fraud. In one case, Mustakeen Rana, who was already under arrest by the Ambala Police, was brought to Panckhkula and produced in the court. The accused had recently tried to acquire a No Objection Certificate against fake documents. The court sent him to police remand for two days. In another case, Surinder Pal, a resident of Chandigarh, had sold his motorcycle after giving a fake registration certificate to the buyer.
HUDA staff rally
Workers of the four associations of the HUDA Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti held a rally in Sector 8 here today. The workers have threatened that if their demands are not met soon, they would intensify their agitation.
The sanitation workers demanded that they should be provided with oil and soaps while the workers of electrical division and the fire department demanded that those with 20 years of working experience should be promoted as JEs and that a seniority list should be prepared. They also demanded that those who complete 240 days of service should be made permanent. Samiti president Mewa Singh claimed that their demands are reasonable and should be met soon.
