
A Two-day meeting of the BJP national executive starting here on Monday will review the party8217;s performance in the recent Assembly elections. President Rajnath Singh is likely to come under pressure over the debacle in UP and Goa, but the consolation for the party is from Punjab and Uttarakhand where it was on the winning side.
The meeting would also review the ongoing campaign for presidential elections in which BJP leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat is contesting as an Independent supported by the National Democratic Alliance NDA. Senior leader Arun Jaitley is giving the crucial executive meeting a miss, as he is away on a holiday.
On Sunday evening, party office-bearers reviewed preparations for the executive meeting. Later, party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said: 8220;8216;BJP at every booth8217; will be the theme of the meeting.8221; The party8217;s emphasis would be on rebuilding before the 2009 general election.
One resolution on the Rama Sethu, a key issue
for the RSS which is opposing the Sethusamudram ship canal project, and two others on the country8217;s political
situation and farm crisis will be passed at the national
executive.
Scientist Kalyani Raman is also scheduled to deliver a talk on the Rama Sethu at the conclave. Agriculture scientist M S Swaminathan is expected to address the national executive on farm crisis.
