Forex level increasesMUMBAI: A $80 million jump in foreign currency assets for the week ended August 20, 1999, has pushed the country's foreign currency reserves to $33.195 billion, the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement released on Saturday said. Meanwhile, net bank credit has shown a 16 per cent rise on a year on year basis to cross Rs 3,73,244 crore and the aggregate deposits with the banking sector have jumped to Rs 7,43,963 crore as on August 13, 1999, registering a 16.3 per cent growth.Price index upMUMBAI: The wholesale price index for the period April-July this year recorded a growth of 3.1 per cent as against 6.9 per cent for the same period in 1998-99, according to an official release. The consumer price index (industrial workers) registered 7.1 per cent growth for April-June as against 13.1 per cent for the same period in 1998-99. Exports from the country has grown by 6.5 per cent in the first quarter of the current fiscal - exports growth last year was 3.7per cent for the same period. Imports recorded a 4.5 per cent rise in the first quarter of 1999-2000 as against 7.9 per cent in the first quarter last year.ISE gets boostMUMBAI: Inter-Connected Stock Exchange of India Ltd (ISE) has received a significant boost with a favourable decision from the SEBI permitting regional stock exchange (RSE) brokers to trade on ISE utilising their BMC (base minimum capital) with RSEs. In view of the this decision, it is expected that several inactive traders of RSEs will now begin trading on the ISE. The names and addresses of various textile associations and export promotion councils will also be freely listed.Pyramid CyberwayMUMBAI: Internet communications company Pyramid Cyberway has launched a office communication product, Scanfax, which integrates fax and e-mail. The product has been designed and developed in association with Scansoft Inc, a subsidiary of Xerox Corporation. The product allows multiple documents, colour photographs and letters to be sent as an e-mail attachment or toa fax machine. The software allows editing, highlighting, adding notes to scanned images. Documents can be stored in an electronic filing cabinet and retrieved by searching on key words. It integrates seamlessly with MS Office and Winzip, and links to 185 applications. The software is priced at Rs 9500 for the scanner version and Rs 2500 for each node licence.
