A case under sections 106(1) (death by negligence) and 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of the BNS has been registered at Samaypur Badli police station.
Two workers were killed after a goods lift collapsed inside a ceramic crockery factory in Outer Delhi’s Samaypur on Thursday evening, police said.
According to the police, information was received from Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital around 5.20 pm on Thursday informing that two men had been brought dead with grievous injuries allegedly caused by a lift breakdown.
The deceased were identified as Hariom (32), a resident of Samaypur, and Sanjay Mishra (45), who lived in North Delhi’s Siraspur.
Police said that preliminary inquiry revealed that both men were employed at Neha Enterprises, a ceramic crockery manufacturing unit.
Police said the two men had entered a lift used for transporting goods between floors when its cable snapped, causing the lift to plunge down. They suffered grievous injuries and died while being taken to hospital, officers said.
