
Rhone-Poulenc net up 136.7
MUMBAI: Rhone-Poulenc India has registered a 136.7 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 30.54 crore for the year ended March 31, 1999 as compared with Rs 12.90 crore in the previous year. The writeback of depreciation on the revalued portion of fixed assets of Rs 12.96 crore has contributed significantly to the jump in profits, while VRS payments during 1998-99 stood at Rs 9.69 crore. Sales for the year rose 29 per cent to touch Rs 211.97 crore as against Rs 164.25 crore in the previous year.
116 Internet licences issued for ISPs
NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecom DoT has issued a total of 116 licences for internet service providers ISP ever since the internet policy was announced in November last year.
The maximum number of licences have been issued for category quot;Cquot; small and medium cities service providers at 59, followed by category quot;Cquot; metros and states at 39. All India Licences category quot;Aquot; have been issued to 18 service providers, anofficial release said.
Sebi eases equity denomination norms
MUMBAI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India SEBI today issued a notification imparting flexibility to companies to fix any denomination of its equity shares, which are presently limited to Rs 10 or Rs 100. The notification, which comes into force with immediate effect, said companies shall have freedom to issue shares in any denomination to be determined by them in accordance with the Section 134 of the Companies Act after making amends to memorandum. However, companies should ensure that shares are not issued in denomination of less than a rupee or decimal of a rupee, SEBI said.
