MUMBAI, April 24: Over 5,000 Biharis held a morcha in Bhiwandi today protesting what it called police inaction8217; in the kidney scam.

The morcha was organised by the Bihari Pravasi Sangh, an organisation which claims to be fighting for the rights of Bihari workers outside the state. It began from Bhoiwada concluding in a public meeting in front of the DCP8217;s Zone-II office.

As reported by Express Newsline, Naseer Ali, a Bihari migrant, was allegedly fooled into donating his kidney for Rs 40,000. The Sangh demanding that the case be transferred to the CID and all accused be arrested within a week, and that state government pay Ali a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

Addressing the meeting, the Sangh8217;s Bhiwandi chairperson Mohiuddin Ansari criticised Mohammed Ali Khan, the local Samajwadi Party MLA, for ignoring the kidney case. 8220;Considering he comes to us as his vote bank, he should have at least issued a statement lamenting what Ali had to undergo,8221; he told the audience. The national president BalwantShastri later led a delegation to DCP Sanjay Saxena and submitted a memorandum detailing the above demands. Interestingly, the delegation did not deem it fit to include Ali, who was left waiting outside.
